Price Tag, Red Earth’s latest show, touring secondary schools, is a sizzling piece performed by a company packed full of energy, talent and commitment.
Let’s start with Adam Horvath, a young, local Derby actor. Whilst in rehearsals for Price Tag, Adam auditioned at Derby Theatre to become the first, young, local actor to have a year long placement in the theatre. He’ll be taking part in 2 main house shows over the next year. Congratulations to Adam, who will soon appear at Derby Theatre in Mike Kenny’s The Odyssey, directed by Sarah Brigham.
Then there’s Paula James and John Afzal. Both actors appeared in Red Earth’s national tour of Emil and the Detectives (2013). So, here they are again bringing their considerable talents to a very different show. As well as being a great actor and dancer, Paula has a fantastic singing voice and is a dab hand with the guitar (classical and modern). Like Paula, John has a great voice and we were glad to hear them singing together again in Price Tag.
Last, but by no means least is Louise Torres-Ryan, physical performer and singer. She has the audience eating out of the palm of her hand, with her comic portrayal of two completely different characters with totally opposing world views. Price Tag is her first show with Red Earth and we hope it won’t be her last.
The whole company is magnificently managed and kept in order by Kate Stoney, Stage Manager and props/costume buyer extraordinaire.
Thanks to them all.
